Gardners March Madness: Growing from the Ground Up

Post date: Mar 8, 2012 1:25:12 PM

Get your garden off to the best possible start this spring. On Saturday, March 24 from 10:00 – 2:30 the Master Gardener Volunteers with Cornell Cooperative Extension are holding ‘Growing From the Ground Up’, an interactive program consisting of four one hour blocks focusing on some of the fundamentals of successful vegetable and flower gardening. Each block begins with a short illustrated talk and then breaks into small groups for hands-on activities and discussion. Topics include practical ways to improve your soil, using raised beds, simplified composting, starting seeds and handling transplants, and how to make the most out of the space and growing conditions you have.

The program runs 10:00 to 2:30 at the Miner Institute in Chazy. Instructors include Amy Ivy, Jolene Wallace and Master Gardener volunteers. The cost is $20 per person and includes refreshments and resource materials. Bring your own bag lunch. Registration is required by March 19. For more information or to register contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 561-7450, email Jolene Wallace at jmw442@cornell.edu or download the flier from http://counties.cce.cornell.edu/clinton .
